I got my first \u201cMason Brush\u201d about 16 years ago and lost it in an airplane. My second brush, which I use almost every day, has been with me for about 11 years and counting! Still looks wonderful and I use it almost every day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3310 alignleft\" alt=\"Mason Pearson alike\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mymakeupbook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/02.jpg\" width=\"338\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Recently, I bumped into a very similar hairbrush under the name of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sallybeauty.com\/nylon-cushion-brush\/SBS-738637,default,pd.html#prefn1=brand&amp;prefv1=BTIQUE&amp;start=8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><strong>\u2018<\/strong><span style=\"color: #b91833;\"><strong>Beautique\u2019<\/strong> at our very own Sally&#8217;s Beauty Supply<\/span><\/a>. Of course, it was not a <span style=\"color: #b91833;\">&#8220;Mason Pearson&#8221;<\/span>, though I could have sworn it was the same brush, under a different brand name and a much different price tag. Bough it, bought it home and after doing a close comparison between the two, this is what I found:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3311 alignleft\" alt=\"Mason Pearson vs Beautique\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mymakeupbook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/05.jpg\" width=\"338\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Similarities:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Both brushes have almost the same size, shape, proportions, and color palette.<\/p>\n<p>They weigh almost the same, and have very similar type of bristles. For all these reasons the <em>&#8220;feel&#8221;<\/em> on your hand it&#8217;s very similar.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3313 alignleft\" alt=\"Mason Pearson vs beautique\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mymakeupbook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/03.jpg\" width=\"338\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Differences:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Beautique&#8221; brush bristles and rubber cushion are a little stiffer, not as soft and flexible as on the &#8220;Mason Pearson.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On the \u201cBeautique\u201d brush there is no drainage escape orifice, contrary to the BN1. This lack of drainage could result in humidity buildup within the brush upon cleaning, creating the risk of bacteria buildup inside it.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Beautique&#8221; brush does not come with the rectangular cleaning brush that accompanies the <span style=\"color: #b91833;\">&#8220;Mason Pearson&#8221;<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the big difference is in the cost, with the &#8220;Beautique&#8221; brush featuring a smashing price tag of $9.99 USD!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3336 aligncenter\" alt=\"Mason Pearson vs beautique\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mymakeupbook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/04.jpg\" width=\"733\" height=\"513\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Conclusion:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Needless to say, I love my <span style=\"color: #b91833;\">&#8220;Mason Pearson&#8221;<\/span> but, the \u201cBeautique\u201d brush could be a wonderful \u201csecond option\u201d as long as we keep close attention with the bacteria buildup and this (if any) it\u2019s handled properly. And of course\u2026 If you have a tougher scalp!<\/p>\n<p>Now we just need to see if this our \u201csecond option\u201d it will last 11+ years grooming our beautiful manes and looking as great as my Diva <span style=\"color: #b91833;\">&#8220;Mason Pearson&#8221;<\/span> hair brush still does!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3308 aligncenter\" alt=\"Mason Pearson alikes\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mymakeupbook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/06.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Oops&#8230; I almost forgot!<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Don&#8217;t forget the little &#8216;Mini-Me&#8217; Pearson available at <strong><span style=\"color: #b91833;\"><em>Sephora<\/em><\/span><\/strong>.
